UofO to Convert Quality Inn to Student Residence

On March 18, 2015, despite an statement made in December to the contrary, the University of Ottawa announced that it was converting the former Quality Inn at the corner of Rideau Street and King Edward Avenue into a new residence for about 414 students. Along with the residence opened last fall on Friel and one currently under construction on Henderson the UofO is adding about 1,000 beds to the 2,906 currently on campus. While ASH welcomes this announcement, we are concerned that, once again, the UofO is establishing new student residences off-campus without having announced any new residences on campus. Please see the ASH Statement.
