1. Help celebrate our local history and shape the future of our neighbourhood!

Whether you are a life-long resident or have recently moved in, a history or architecture buff, or simply care about our community’s unique character, come and share your interest and concerns. A few of us would like to reactivate the Action Sandy Hill Heritage Committee, and hear your thoughts about possible priorities and pathways. Together, we hope to celebrate our shared roots, work to protect historic landmarks, and host engaging community events. Join us for an hour of conversation at Working Title, 330 Laurier Ave at 7 p.m. on Tuesday July 7. Contact  Andrew Johnston with any questions. Hope to see you there!

1. Refurbished Pollinator Garden in Strathcona Park

2. Alternate Neighbourhood Crisis Response (ANCHOR)

ANCHOR is now operating in the Byward Market, Lowertown, Sandy Hill, Overbrook, Vanier and Lees Towers.

ANCHOR provides a community-led, non-police safer alternate response to mental health and substance use crisis. Individuals experiencing or witnessing a mental health or substance use crisis can call 211 to access ANCHOR, which is available 24/7 for people aged 16 and older within the service area.

You can use the interactive map to check service availability in your location.

ANCHOR responds to situations including people in mental health or substance use crisis, threaten suicide, erratic behavior, well-being checks, verbal disputes and requests for information or referrals. For suspected overdoses (example, someone unconscious or “on the nod), please call 9-1-1.

It is important to note that ANCHOR does not respond to overdoses or acute substance use emergencies, and it is not a replacement for services provided by Consumption and Treatment Service (CTS).
