Interim Bylaw to Stop Conversions of Single Family Homes into Student Bunkhouses

An interim control bylaw to stop the conversions of family homes into student bunkhouses in Sandy Hill and Old Ottawa South was passed the morning of Tuesday, April 23rd, 2013 at the City’s Planning Committee. The ban will be in effect for at least six months to give City Hall the chance to review how conversions should be handled across the City. It goes to full Council for ratification on Wednesday, April 24th. Expect more news and details in the coming days and in the Councillor’s update on Monday, April 29th at the monthly ASH meeting.

This is an important step for our community since we clearly have the attention of the City and the opportunity we have been waiting for to make some evidence-based suggestions for zoning changes in Sandy Hill!
