The City recently announced that it is updating the Uptown Rideau Community Design Plan (CDP), approved by Council in 2005. As part of the update, the City is conducting a survey about the future of the street. The Uptown Rideau CDP includes properties along and nearby Rideau Street between King Edward Avenue and the Cummings Bridge.
Please take the time to complete the online survey by April 21st.
ASH recognizes the recent evolution of Ottawa’s goals for urban intensification and improvements to transportation but ASH shares the concerns reported in the Ottawa Citizen and EMC News about the apparent immediate need to revisit the highly-regarded plan. Many local people of Sandy Hill and Lowertown are concerned that the review has been sparked by requests by developers for high-rises instead of the agreed mid-rise development. These local people recently protested in favour of keeping the spirit of the current CDP.
