2. ASH Board Of Directors Meetings

The ASH Board of Directors meets monthly (except for July and December), generally on the last Monday of the month, at the Sandy Hill Community Centre and virtually, from 7 to 8:30 pm. ASH members will receive an email with a meeting reminder and a Zoom link before each meeting. Meetings for 2026 are: August 31, September 28, October 26 and November 26.

1. MPP Lucille Collard's survey of residents

This survey is an opportunity to better understand your experiences and priorities on issues such as affordability, healthcare, housing, community safety, and quality of life. It should take less than 5 minutes to complete and you may skip any question you prefer not to answer. All responses are anonymous and will be reported only in summary form.

2. "School Streets" Pilot

On July 15th, City Council approved a motion to move forward with a pilot of its “school streets” initiative for the upcoming school year.  One of the schools participating in the pilot is Francojeunesse Public School on Osgoode Street. A segment of roadway near a school would temporarily be closed to vehicular traffic during drop-off and pick-up times, thereby creating a controlled environment with limited to no motorized traffic.  The intent of this type of road closure is to improve  safety and encourage healthy active transportation choices.

The “school streets” pilot will be funded and run by EnviroCentre.

4. Safe Trade Zones

Recently there have been a couple of in-person transactions through online marketplaces gone bad. Ottawa Police are reminding the public to consider using a Safe Trade Zone when completing in-person transactions. Safe Trade Zones are designated parking spaces at select Ottawa Police Service facilities. The closest one to Sandy Hill is located at 466 Metcalfe Street (visitors’ parking lot behind the Police Station at 474 Elgin Street). Click here for more information.
