1. Circular Economy Month - October
October is Circular Economy Month, a national campaign that encourages Canadians to rethink how we use resources and reduce waste by keeping products and materials in use for as long as possible. Throughout October, Ottawa residents can take part in activities that bring circular economy principles to life. Some of these activities include:
Give away weekend – October 3 & 4
Simply place your gently used possessions at the curb during Giveaway Weekend and let someone else discover a new favourite. Then, take a stroll in your neighbourhood and see what hidden gems are out there waiting for you.
At the end of the day, bring any uncollected items back inside. What hasn’t found a new home can be donated to charitable organizations, shared through your local Buy Nothing Facebook group, or posted on other free exchange websites.

Circular Fair - October 10 Time: 10 am to 2 pm Where: Horticulture Building, Lansdowne Park
Discover practical ways to reduce waste through repair, reuse and sharing, including a Repair Café, clothing drop-and-swap, and other community-driven circular economy activities.
