Hi

In my platform , noted on www.donyetman2018.com, and on Flyers I am distributing door to door,  I have a line item that mentions Effective Planning. To me “effective” planning means that as development plans are being developed, and before they are cast in stone, the community needs to be consulted and in agreement. These plans also need to have some strength. All too often , a developer or a citizen will appeal the plans , and appeals win the day, hence the official Zoning Plan means nothing.

I am in favour of firm Zoning Plans, that are reviewed every couple of years and updated as necessary. Then these plans should be the rule going forward. I suspect the City spends lots of time and money going thru the appeal process.

That being said, there is an exception to every rule, but exceptions should not be the norm. Special circumstances may arise which require an appeal. Should this happen the community needs to be involved in the decision.
