Say "No" to Plastic Bags!

Action Sandy Hill has started a campaign against the use of plastic bags in our community.

Plastic bags are incredibly harmful to the environment.  They don't biodegrade - they photodegrade - breaking down into smaller and smaller toxic bits contaminating soil and water ways and entering the food web when animals accidentally ingest.

Action Sandy Hill has commissioned reusable bags which have been produced by Cooperative 301, a local cooperative here in Sandy Hill. They have been sewn out of recycled banners donated by the Canadian Museum of Civilization and the War Museum and other donations.

The bags will be sold for $6.00 at all ASH events as well as in Ayoub's Mini Mart on Somerset Street.
